Nipple Care Product: Nipple cream/butter review – Earth Mama nipple butter, Lansinoh HPA lanolin, medela tender care lanolin

best nipple cream review

In my hospital, the default breast pump supplies they provide are medela products, including the medela tender care lanolin samples. However, back at home I have bought Lansinoh’s HPA Lanolin samples and have Earth Mama Angel Baby Natural Nipple Butter as gifts from my friend, so I have a chance to try all three nipple cream/butter.

As a person who cares a lot about moisture skin and who heard a lot of horror stories about nipple cracks, here are my thoughts about the three products.

Earth Mama Angel Baby Natural Nipple Butter

This is a non-GMO and lanolin-free butter. To me, it provides the most hydration to nipple skin. Because mommies are pumping 8-10 times per day and around the clock, the skin would really get dry and would crack easily. Therefore, hydration is very important to make the skin stay elastic and tender. This butter is actually very easy to push and spreads onto the skin. Very easy to wash off as well. This is the butter that I’d recommend to my friends.

Lansinoh Hpa Lanolin for Breastfeeding Mothers

This provides enough hydration (better compare to the medela tender care lanolin but not as good as Earth Mama’s nipple butter). It’s somewhat easy to push and spread onto the skin, and somewhat easy to wash off. Lansinoh has many other breast pump accessories that are good as well, but I’d say this is a pretty good but not the best to me.

Medela Tender Care Lanolin Tube

Although it’s medela brand, I actually find this cream the hardest to use. It’s very thick and not easy to push and spread onto the skin. It’s very hard to wash off as well. Although its thickness protects nipples from the crack, the other two brands do the same thing, too.

Overall, all three are great products, the easiest way to try out is to buy samples from each of them and see which one you prefer. To me, Earth Mama’s nipple butter is what I like and what I’d recommend.
